Why you should have many Marketing Strategies to Create Profit for your Business

Speaking with some of my clients recently has prompted me to highlight the need to view marketing as essential, especially when times are hard and when increased sales are necessary.

A lot of people tend to feel content, even to some extent proud that they do not have a strong marketing campaign.

Honestly, if this is the case then you are missing out, leaving money on the table and not growing your company as best you can.

Marketing should be one of the last things to be cut in times of need.

Q: If you had to catch fish to feed a whole village or even just your family, would you set out with just one fishing rod and no bait? or would you cast out 5 rods with bait of even a net!

A: You would do many!

The most effect marketing strategy is one that doesn’t focus on 1 rod but has many.

For an online environment and to your business what does this mean?

This means that you don’t "just do" one thing. But you view your marketing as a structured approach with many potential avenues.

For example:

Instead of just 1 typical industry marketing avenue, for example one of the following: leaflets, trade shows, telesales etc. as your marketing strategy, you do the following:

1. Online
a. A Website (your company’s online catalogue so to speak)
b. You Keyword optimise your site and do all the necessary on Page SEO.
b. Off Page SEO - back linking etc.
d. Submit your company to all the necessary industry related directories
e. build content on your site. Prove your specialism and experience.

2. PPC advertising - Pay Per Click advertising.
From Atlas data it has been shown, that if you rank at the no.1 position organically for a particular keyword, you will get 70% of the click through from Google. What they also found was that if you ran a PPC campaign with the same keywords, you would get double the sales from the PPC Vs the Organic. Now you still need to make sure that you are ranking organically (as above in No.1) but why not take the approach of doing both. If you do Keyword PPC research prior to your campaign, you can attain good conversion rates and a cost effective PPC budget.

3. Social Media Marketing
Build creditability and more opportunities. Limit your networks to a max of 5 preferably 3 as you will not be establishing the right quality of relationships and will be spread too thinly.

4. Specific marketing to your industry and company.

5. Video marketing
Video marketing has a huge range of benefits and is definitely something that your company should consider (you can find more info about Video SEO and Marketing at my blog.)
